Meilenbach, coming from Karm

Meilenbach is a district of Hilpoltstein in the Middle Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .

location

The wasteland lies on the Jura plateau immediately east of Karm . The Dorfwiesengraben, a tributary of the Schwarzach , flows past the southern wasteland.

Place name interpretation

The place name, which means a location on the water, should contain the Middle High German personal name Milo. Another interpretation leads the place name back to "michel" = "large"; it remains unclear what this adjective is supposed to refer to.

history

1188 a "Michilinbach" is mentioned. It is uncertain whether the "Melhinbach" mentioned in a document from 1268 is today's Meilenbach. Another documentary mention comes from 1365. Belonging to the Hilpoltstein office of Pfalz-Neuburg , Meilenbach was pledged with this office from 1542 for 36 years to the imperial city of Nuremberg. From 1544 onwards she had a book of sages made; It says in it that Meilenbach is a "Nürnbergerhof der Rieter von Kornburg ". In 1604 the settlement appears as "Meulnbach" in the Vogel'schen map of the now again Palatinate-Neuburg administration office Hilpoltstein, parish in the evangelical parish of Meckenhausen since 1542, which became a Catholic parish again in 1627 in the course of the Counter Reformation .

Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, the wasteland consisted of two subject properties belonging to the manor Franz Anton Kammerer, a beer brewer and a lambswoman in Hilpoltstein. The local nursing office exercised high and low jurisdiction. The settlement in the Catholic parish of Meckenhausen was parish.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806), the municipality of Karm, consisting of the village of Karm and the wasteland of Meilenbach, was later (before 1867) also assigned to the tax district of Weinsfeld with the hamlet of Kauerlach . At the beginning of the 19th century, the Meilenbacher Flur was around 62 hectares in size.

In 1875 25 horses, 241 cattle, 47 sheep and 85 pigs were officially counted in the municipality of Karm; Milesbach had 13 horses and 30 head of cattle.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Karm together with its districts of Kauerlach and Meilenbach was incorporated into the municipality of Meckenhausen as part of the municipal reform, which in turn became a district of the city of Hilpoltstein on July 1, 1976.

A farm in Meilenbach has specialized in growing elderberries since 1997 .
