Miguel Ángel López Moreno (born February 4, 1994 in Pesca ) is a Colombian cyclist .

Career

Miguel Ángel López won the Tour de l'Avenir in 2014 . The following year he joined the UCI WorldTeam Astana Pro Team and won a stage of the Vuelta a Burgos . He was also overall seventh in the Tour de Suisse . In 2016 he won stages in the Tour de San Luis and the Tour de Langkawi . With the overall ranking of the Tour de Suisse 2016 , he achieved his greatest career success to date. He finished the race twelve seconds ahead of runner-up Ion Izagirre .

In September 2016 he took part in a " Grand Tour " for the first time with the Tour of Spain , which he had to give up prematurely after two falls during the sixth stage. After his recovery, he won the Italian classic Milan – Turin at the end of September .

After Lopez was thrown back in preparation during a training fall in November 2016, he fell again as defending champion during the Tour de Suisse and had to forego the planned start at the Tour de France . Instead, he competed in the Tour of Austria and won a stage there. He scored his second win of the season at the Burgos Tour. He then contested his second Vuelta a España , which he finished eighth overall, ahead of the regular Astana captain Fabio Aru (13th), after two stage wins on the mountain finishes of the eleventh and fifteenth day segments .

In the 2018 season, Lopez was third overall in the Giro d'Italia , winning the junior ranking . He also won stages of the Tour of Oman , the Tour of the Alps and the Tour of Burgos.

At the beginning of the 2019 season, Lopez won the overall ratings of the Tour Colombia and the Tour of Catalonia . At the subsequent Giro d'Italia he was brought down by a spectator in the final climb of the 20th stage and lost 1:49 minutes. After his accident, Lopez hit the viewer. Finally, he was overall seventh of the tour and again won the Maglia Bianca,
