Location of the municipality

Montilliez is a municipality in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It was created on July 1, 2011 from the merger of the municipalities of Dommartin , Naz , Poliez-le-Grand and Sugnens .

The name is derived from a parcel named Au Montilliez located in the geographical center of the future municipality . The name means Zum Lindenberg (from Latin tilia = linden).

The municipality of Montilliez is located in the heart of the Gros-de-Vaud, southeast of the district capital Echallens, between the river Talent in the east and the Mentue in the west. The neighboring municipalities of Montilliez are Fey in the north, Montanaire in the north-east, Jorat-Menthue in the east, Poliez-Pittet in the south, Bottens in the south-south-west, Echallen in the south-west and Villars-le-Terroir in the north-west .
