Oed-Oehling (official name; often also written Oed-Öhling ) is a market town in the Amstetten district with 1933 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria .

Oed-Oehling is located in the Lower Austrian Mostviertel. 14.88 percent of the area of the market town is forested.
Community structure
Oed-Oehling consists of the two localities or cadastral communities (population as of January 1, 2020):
- Oed market (village Oed, 1.82 km², 702 Ew.) Including Oedschachen and Saugraben
- Öhling (8.81 km², 1231 Ew.) Including Buchleiten, Egelsee, Krottendorf, Pyhra, Ramsau and Urltal
The places are located on both sides of the A 1 West Autobahn and on Wiener Straße B 1. Historically justified, as well as due to the separate geographical location, each district has its own municipal office, its own elementary school and kindergarten.
Neighboring communities
history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province . Both places were mentioned for the first time in 1170. In 1318 Oed already had market rights. Öhling was called Ellingin and is already known as the Roman civilian settlement Elegio . The community was merged in 1972 from the two cadastral communities Oed and Oehling as part of the Lower Austrian community reform.

Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, the population was 1483. In 1991 the market town had 1360 inhabitants, in 1981 1214 and in 1971 1012 inhabitants. As of January 1, 2015, the population was 1,842.

In 2001 there were 46 non-agricultural workplaces, and according to the 1999 survey there were 44 in agriculture and forestry. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 725. The 2001 employment rate was 49.89 percent. The average number of unemployed people in 2003 was 11.

- Mostelleria - Farthofer distillery. In the baroque cellar Mostelleria, among other things, fine brandies such as O-Vodka , which was chosen as the world's best vodka at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2012 , are produced.
