The United States took part in the 10th Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France, in 1968 with a delegation of 96 athletes in ten disciplines, including 75 men and 21 women. With one gold medal, five silver medals and one bronze medal, the United States placed eighth in the medal table. The gold medal went to Peggy Fleming , who became Olympic figure skating champion.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the speed skater Richard McDermott . In 1964 he became Olympic champion over 500 meters.
