In terms of sales, "OpenText Business Network" is OpenText's largest division. The GXS network is the oldest digital B2B network with global coverage. It was founded in 1970 as part of General Electric Information Services (GEIS). The further development of the network is known as the “Trading Grid” and enables digital business process exchange through the entire value and financial process chain. In 2017, 80,000 customers with more than 800,000 business partners were connected. Business messages are sent or received from the network to the business partners. The need for manual processes and the provision of internal software is eliminated and the processing of the processes is accelerated. This is necessary to e.g. B. to realize just-in-time production processes or e-commerce operations.
The "OpenText Business Network" exists as a pure cloud-based network. It stands for the technological advancement of classic EDI software solutions, which mostly only offered point-to-point connections. OpenText Business Network electronically connects companies with their business partners such as customers, suppliers, logistics service providers and banks. Affiliated companies are enabled to exchange business processes from the entire value and financial chain (e.g. delivery notes, invoices, transport messages, payment advices) fully automatically. Typical purchasing and sales processes (procure-to-pay and order-to-cash ) are also integrated into the merchandise management systems ( ERP systems ) of the participating companies. All industry-typical standards for electronic exchange (EDI) are covered. Companies also use Internet / web-based portals that are made available to participants as additional applications.
The "OpenText Business Network" developed and offers services that go beyond the pure technical connection. This includes additional applications for better visualization of business processes, services for connecting individual as well as masses (> 5,000) of communication partners , as well as the inclusion of IoT end devices in the business network.
OpenText acquired Covisint Corporation in 2017 to strengthen the IoT business and the digital automotive supply chain. Covisint is the leading cloud platform for developing identity management and IoT applications in the automotive industry.
