Ovidiu Hațegan
Ovidiu Alin Hațegan (born July 17, 1980 in Arad ) is a Romanian football referee . He has been on the FIFA list since 2008 .
Education and family
Haţegan graduated from the Medical and Pharmaceutical University Victor Babes in Timișoara with a degree in medicine . After graduating, he held a teaching position in anatomy at the Western University of Vasile-Goldiș Arad .
Hategan is married and has one son.
Career
Hațegan is a referee in Liga I , the highest Romanian division.
Hațegan made his international debut in March 2008 in qualifying for the U-17 European Football Championship in 2008 between the teams of Belgium and Croatia . His first international match was a friendly between Russia and Serbia in August 2011. He was then used in qualifying for the European Championships in 2012 and 2016 and in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup .
He made his first appearance in the group stage of the Champions League in the 2011/12 season when he led the match between APOEL Nicosia and Shakhtar Donetsk .
In 2015 he was nominated by FIFA as referee for the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand . In the summer of the same year, he was promoted to the top referee class of UEFA .
In December 2015, UEFA announced that Hațegan was one of the 18 referees to appear at the 2016 European Football Championship in France .
He also served as referee for the Olympic football tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro .
In the course of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup , he was entrusted with the management of the play-off first leg between Northern Ireland and Switzerland , which Switzerland won with a controversial hand penalty. For the finals of the tournament in Russia he was ultimately not considered.
In 2019 he was nominated by the as the only European referee to lead matches at the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar .
