The Daihatsu Move is a microvan produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Daihatsu , which is based on the Daihatsu Cuore . The car designed by Giorgio Giugiaro combines the spatial concept of Vans with the small external dimensions of a small car .
Model history
The Move has been on sale in Japan since August 1995 and was a great success with 500,000 copies sold in the first three years. This was mainly due to the fact that no parking space had to be proven for the approval of the Move in the Tokyo area due to its short length (unlike for larger cars).
In May 1997 the Move was the first microvan ever to hit the German market. The models of the first generation (L600) were 3.31 m long, 1.70 m high and only 1.40 m wide and were powered by an 847 cm³ and 42 hp three-cylinder engine. It is unusual that the Move is equipped with four lengthways and freely adjustable individual seats and has a rear door that opens to the side. In 1998 Daihatsu introduced the second generation of the Move, which had grown in length to 3.41 m and was equipped with a 989 cm³ engine (55 hp).
In 2002, the 3rd generation of the Daihatsu Move (L150 / L160) came onto the market in Japan. This model was no longer offered in Germany. The current model presented in October 2006 is not exported to Europe either.
variants
In Japan, the Daihatsu Move is offered in addition to the basic version with a modified front as "Move Custom". Based on the Move, there are also the variants "Move Latte" (2004 to 2009) and "Move Conte" (since 2008) with a completely independent design.
In Malaysia , the manufacturer Perodua is producing a replica of the Move as Perodua Kenari .
In the PR China , Tianjin Xiali , a joint venture between the China FAW Group and Toyota , manufactures variants of the Move and an electric car based on the Daihatsu Move under the model name Miles ZX40 .
