Robert Richards (rower)

Robert Richards (* 22. September 1971 in Ballarat ) is a former Australian Lightweight - rower who won an Olympic silver medal.

Richards won the 1997 World Championships with the lightweight eighth on Lac d'Aiguebelette in France. From 1998 he rowed in the lightweight four without a helmsman . At the 1998 World Championships , the boat won the bronze medal behind the boats from Denmark and France with Darren Balmforth , Simon Burgess , Anthony Edwards and Robert Richards. In 1999 , the Australian foursome with the same line-up finished second behind the Danes and ahead of the French. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 the Australian four-man competed in the same line-up, with the French winning ahead of the Australians and the Danes.

Richards, who is 1.86 m tall for a lightweight rower, rowed for the Wendouree Ballarat RC .
