Rudná (until 1927 Slovak "Rudnik", Hungarian Rudna or Rozsnyórudna ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 717 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Rožňava of, part kraj Košický heard.
geography
The village is located in the western part of the Rožňavská kotlina basin within the Slovak Karst . The highest point is the northern mountain Turecká with 953 m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 320 m nm and is four kilometers away from Rožňava .
Neighboring municipalities are Gemerská Poloma and Betliar in the north, Rožňava in the east, Brzotín in the southeast, Kružná in the south and Rakovnica and Rožňavské Bystré in the west.
history
Rudná was founded in the territory of Brzotín in 1243 and was first mentioned in writing in 1291 as Rodna . For centuries it was a mining town in which gold and silver in particular were mined in the Middle Ages and iron in the modern era. In 1427 17 portals were recorded in a tax register. In 1582 the inhabitants had to pay tribute to the Ottoman Empire and some emigrated. In 1828 there were 61 houses and 515 inhabitants who were employed as miners and shepherds.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1938 to 1945 he was once again part of Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .
population
According to the 2011 census, 745 people lived in Rudná, including 429 Slovaks , 258 Magyars , seven Roma and two Czechs . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 48 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
211 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 133 residents the Reformed Church, 112 residents the Evangelical Church AB, 13 residents the Evangelical Methodist Church, 10 residents the Greek Catholic Church and one resident of the Jehovah's Witnesses; one resident professed a different denomination. 200 residents had no denomination and 64 residents had no denomination.
