German Chess League 1984/85
The 1984/85 season was the fifth season of the German Chess League . The chess department of FC Bayern Munich became champion for the second time since 1983 . König Frechen , SK Zähringen 1921 , SC Kreuzberg and TB Erlangen were newly promoted . Frechen was relegated without a single win, the other three newcomers were able to keep the class. The other relegated teams were SG Enger / Spenge , SC Braunschweig and Delmenhorster SK . Due to the equality of points between places 12, 13 and 14, there were play-offs for relegation between Steglitz, Delmenhorst and Braunschweig. Steglitz defeated Delmenhorst 5: 3 and Braunschweig 5½: 2½ and thus secured themselves relegation. In addition, Delmenhorst defeated Braunschweig 5-3.
