Schlössle Schmitzingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schlössle Schmitzingen is a noble seat of the Barons von Roll in Schmitzingen , a district of Waldshut-Tiengen .

The Schlössle was built in the years from 1780 by Karl Joseph Anton Sylverius Alois von Roll. His mother was Marie Elisabeth von Schönau- Öschgen, his father Joseph Leopold von Roll von Bernau from the Uri line. They previously sat at Bernau Castle near Leibstadt. His family owned the Roll'sche Haus in the town of Waldshut (next to the Rheinischer Hof). In 1785 he had to sell the Schlössle in Schmitzingen to Benedikt von Greiffenegg due to financial difficulties. Most of the goods had passed into the possession of Tröndlin von Greiffenegg and von Reinach , with whom von Roll were related. In 1836 the Schlössle was owned by the farmer Josef Eckert. His son Josef expanded it into a farm with an outbuilding. He also set up a beer brewery and dance hall. In 1936 the farm came to the Granacher family through marriage.
