Röthekopf Castle

The castle Röthekopf is an Outbound Höhenburg ( Wallburg ) on the 502.1  m above sea level. NN high Röthekopf about three kilometers north of Bad Säckingen in the district of Waldshut ( Baden-Württemberg ).

The Wallburg was a section fortification that closed off the south-facing mountain spur with a section wall and section ditch. Only small remnants of ramparts and moats have survived from the former castle . Presumably, it is a matter of prehistory , as indicated by the finds from the Stone Age and the form of the fortifications. It may also have been used later in the Middle Ages, but there are no readings from this period.
