Sonu nigam
Sonu Nigam (also Sonu Niigam ; Hindi सोनू निगम IAST Sonu Nigam ; born July 30, 1973 in Faridabad , Haryana ) is an Indian musician and singer. He has already released several of his own indie pop albums and also starred in several films.
Career
The early years
Sonu Nigam began his singing career at the age of three when he supported his father on stage with the Mohammed Rafi song Kya Hua Tera Wada . Since that time he has accompanied his father to appearances at weddings and parties. During his youth he successfully took part in various music competitions. At the age of 18 he moved to Mumbai with his father to start his career as a Bollywood singer.
Sonu took singing lessons from Maha Kanjar Naveed from Fazalabad (Pirwadhai). His first years in Mumbai were an uphill battle - he started singing songs by Mohammed Rafi, mostly for the Rafi Ki Yaadein album series . These albums have contributed to his image as a "Rafi clone". His first film song as a playback singer was from the film Janum (1990) , which was never released. His breakthrough as a playback singer came with the Gulshan Kumar film Aaja Meri Jaan . He then sang the song Acchala Diya for the album Bewafa Sanam (1995) , which finally earned him recognition as an established playback singer.
Sonu began hosting Sa Re Ga Ma , a television talent show for singers and the Indian equivalent of Deutschland sucht den Superstar , which very soon became one of the most popular shows on Indian television. The first episode of Sa Re Ga Ma aired on May 1, 1995. After that he got new orders for playback songs. Sonu achieved great fame with the song Sandese Aate Hain from the movie Border (1997). Anu Malik was the musical director of the film at the time. Sonu's image as "Rafi clone" changed with the song Yeh Dil Deewana from the movie Pardes (1997). With this he invented his own unique style and became a role model for young, aspiring singers in India.
Over the years, Sonu has become the driving force behind the Indian music industry. He volunteered as a playback singer for a very large number of Hindi films and received many awards. Live and don't think about tomorrow ( Kal Ho Naa Ho ) is still one of his most famous and popular movie songs today. He is known for his versatile voice and also for the wide range of emotions that he can express with his voice. Sonu sings with very clear pronunciation and in many Indian languages, in addition to Hindi also in Bengali , Kannada , Punjabi , Tamil , Telugu , Marathi and also in English .
Pop albums and concerts
Sonu has released a number of pop albums, including Mausam , Sapnay Ki Baat , Kismat , Deewana , Jaan , Yaad , Chanda Ki Doli , and Colors of Love . He has also released an album called Pyar in Punjabi. In September 2007 he brought a collection of six CDs with the 100 best Mohammad Rafi songs Kal Aaj Aur Kal Rafi on the market. Then there is Classically Mild , currently the best album and a single Punjabi track entitled Punjabi Please . In 2009 the studio album Time Travel was released and in 2010 another album Neene Bari Neene was released . In April 2011, the first English-language single Let's Go for Glory was released. In June the single This Is It was released in collaboration with Jermaine Jackson and in July the remix single from Britney Spears I Wanna Go .
Over the years he has given concerts in many countries including America , Canada , England , France , Germany , Belgium , Holland , Spain , Australia , New Zealand , Pakistan , Nepal , Bangladesh , Russia , Afghanistan , United Arab Emirates , Saudi Arabia , Bangkok , Indonesia , Singapore , Malaysia , Caribbean (West Indies), Mauritius , Nigeria , Kenya and South Africa . In May / June 2007 he took part in a show called The Incredibles in North America with many other Indian stars , which also featured the well-known Asha Bhosle and the new singing stars Kunal Ganjawala and Kailash Kher . In September and October of the same year he also gave solo concerts "Simply Sonu" in Canada and Germany. In April 2008 he performed a concert marathon in various cities in India, with which he promoted his single Punjabi Please .
In October 2007, Sonu arrived at the inauguration of Harvard University's 28th President, Dr. Drew Gilpin Faust had the honor of singing Mahatma Gandhi's favorite bhajan (a prayer-like song) "Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye" at the celebration with Harvard College Sangeet (vocal students) . The Harvard Board then thanked his newborn son Nevaan with an open letter and a gift.
In July 2008 he toured three cities in England ( Birmingham , Manchester , London ) with the famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to present a number of the best-known Mohammad Rafi hits. The tour followed the release of the latest album by Sonu, CBSO and SaReGaMa music publisher called Rafi Resurrected .
In addition to many concerts in Indian, Asian and Arab countries, Sonu Nigam toured with Sunidhi Chauhan on the US tour "The Explosion 2009" in 2009 and in the UK with "All Izz Well" in November 2010.
TV, radio and acting career
In addition to Sa Re Ga Ma , Sonu Niigaam also hosted the television show Kisme Kitna Hai Dum and was a jury member on Indian Idol (broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television) seasons one and two and recently a star judge for the third season. He also worked as a celebrity judge on Amul Star Voice of India in August 2007. In October 2007, returned to Sonu Sa Re Ga Ma , where he along with Suresh Wadkar at the show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs International as The main jury acted. In 2009 he took on the role of star juror in the last episode of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge . In 2010 he directed the show Chhote Ustaad as a juror together with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and in 2011 he is currently also in front of the camera as a juror for the Indian edition of X Faktor .
In 2006 Sonu hosted his own radio show Life Ki Dhun with Sonu Niigaam on Radiocity 91 FM, where he took the opportunity to interview some of the greats in the music industry, including the legendary Lata Mangeshkar .
Sonu's acting career began as a child in a number of films, including Betaab (1983) . As an adult, Sonu starred in other films such as Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani with Sunny Deol , Manisha Koirala and Akshay Kumar and others; in Kash Aap Hamare Hote he took on the leading role for the first time together with Juhi Babbar , daughter of the actor Raj Babbar ; and most recently he also played the leading role in the film Love in Nepal with Flora Saini and Sweta Keswani . Unfortunately, all three films did not go down well with the audience, even though the reviews of the last film were very good. Sonu has not made a new film since Love In Nepal , but there are currently a few scripts to choose from and according to statements he will soon play a blind singer in a film called Anhkhon Ankhon Main . He was recently confirmed to have a lead role in the remake of Chashme Baddoor.
