Brand-Laaben is a municipality with 1236 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land in Lower Austria .

geography

Brand-Laaben is located in the Laabenbach valley in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria, about the same distance from Neulengbach in the north and Hainfeld in the south.

The area of ​​the municipality covers 34.61 square kilometers. 53.3 percent of the area is forested. The highest point is the Schöpfl ( 893  m ).

The municipality includes the following nine localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

The community consists of the cadastral communities Brand, Eck, Gern, Gföhl, Klamm, Laaben, Pyrath, Stollberg and Wöllersdorf.

In the Roman Empire , the area was part of the Noricum province .

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1155 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 1123 inhabitants, in 1981 1047 and in 1971 1119 inhabitants.

The mayor of the community is Hermann Katzensteiner ( ÖVP ). Vice Mayor is Gerhard Leidinger (ÖVP).
