Brand-Laaben

Brand-Laaben is located in the Laabenbach valley in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria, about the same distance from Neulengbach in the north and Hainfeld in the south.

The area of the municipality covers 34.61 square kilometers. 53.3 percent of the area is forested. The highest point is the Schöpfl ( 893 m ).

The municipality includes the following nine localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

The community consists of the cadastral communities Brand, Eck, Gern, Gföhl, Klamm, Laaben, Pyrath, Stollberg and Wöllersdorf.

history

In the Roman Empire , the area was part of the Noricum province .

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1155 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 1123 inhabitants, in 1981 1047 and in 1971 1119 inhabitants.

politics

The mayor of the community is Hermann Katzensteiner ( ÖVP ). Vice Mayor is Gerhard Leidinger (ÖVP).

In the council there are a total of 19 seats after the municipal elections of 26 January 2020 the following distribution of seats: ÖVP 14, SPÖ 3, Freedom Party 2, other no seats.

Economy and Infrastructure

There were 52 non-agricultural workplaces in 2001, and agricultural and forestry businesses according to the 1999 survey 132. The number of people in work at home was 542 according to the 2001 census. In 2001, the activity rate was 48.74 percent. Brand-Laaben is a member of the Vienna Woods Initiative Region .
