history
Farm names from pre-Germanic times testify to a very old settlement. In the 8th century, Duke Tassilo III. from Bavaria to the Herrenchiemsee Abbey, which he founded, some goods in Stumm and on the Stummerberg . Stumm is first mentioned in a document in the years 1125–1129 as " Stumme ". From this a closed manor developed over the centuries, the "Hofmark Stumm". In 1556 the monastery sold the Hofmark Stumm, which then changed hands several times. In 1849, today's communities of Stumm and Stummerberg emerged from this.
