Trois-Rivières ( Guadeloupe Creole : Twarivyè ) is a municipality with 8,124 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe . The inhabitants call themselves Trois-Rivériens or Trois-Riverains .
geography
The highest point in the municipality is an extinct volcano , the Volcan de la Citerne at 1150 m. ü. M. in the Massif de la Madeleine . The 961 m high Piton de l'Herminier is also nearby . The Guadeloupe National Park also extends over Trois-Rivières. The place name was derived from the three different coastlines. These are the Rivière du trou au Chien , which is 7.4 km long and overlooks Capesterre-Belle-Eau , the Rivière du Petit-Carbet and the Rivière de Grand-Anse , which is 7.2 km long and extends to Gourbeyre extends.
