The county is located in northeast West Virginia and has an area of ​​1,091 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Preston Counties , Grant Counties , Randolph Counties , and Barbour Counties ,

history

Tucker County was formed on March 7, 1856 from parts of Randolph County. It was named after Henry St. George Tucker, Sr. , a Virginia judge .

As of the 2000 census , Tucker County had 7,321 people in 3,052 households and 2,121 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer.
