Wayne County is a county in the US state of West Virginia in the United States . The county seat is Wayne .

The county is located in the southwest of West Virginia, borders Ohio with the border being formed by the Ohio River , and Kentucky and has an area of 1,327 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Lawrence County, Ohio, Cabell County , Lincoln County , Mingo County , Martin County, Kentucky, Lawrence County, Kentucky, and Boyd County, Kentucky.

history

Wayne County was formed on January 18, 1842 from parts of Cabell County. It was named after Anthony Wayne , an American general in the Indian Wars and the American War of Independence .

Wayne County had a population of 42,903 people as of the 2000 census . 195 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 17,239 households and 12,653 families.
