Lewis County is a county in the state of West Virginia in the United States . The county seat is Weston .

The county is located in northeastern West Virginia and has an area of ​​1009 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Harrison County , Upshur County , Webster County , Braxton County , Gilmer County, and Doddridge Counties .

history

Lewis County was formed on December 18, 1816 from parts of Harrison County. It was named after Charles Lewis, a soldier who was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant during the Revolutionary War .
