The village was first mentioned in 1136 as a Wandeleincurt . In 1139 real estate in Wandelencurt was confirmed to the Saint-Ursanne monastery , and later the names Wandelencurtl (1230) and Wendelsdorf (1266) appear. The place name probably goes back to the homestead of a German named Wandalin .

By decision of the Congress of Vienna , the place came to the canton of Bern in 1815 and on January 1, 1979 to the newly founded canton of Jura. In 1832 Vendlincourt was occupied for three days by troops from the canton of Bern because the community sided with the clergy who refused to swear the oath on the liberal constitution.
