Volker Diehl (cyclist)

Volker Diehl (born October 24, 1963 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a former German cyclist .

As an amateur, Volker Diehl became German champions in the team pursuit in 1985 and 1986 together with the team from the Berlin RC Opel student in 1921 .

Then Diehl joined the professionals . In 1987 he became the European winter track champion in two-man team driving , together with Roland Günther . By 1991 he started a total of 47 six-day races, of which he won three, all in 1990: in Bassano del Grappa with Silvio Martinello , in Stuttgart with Etienne De Wilde and that in Berlin with Bruno Holenweger .

In 1991 Diehl received the offer to take over the bicycle business from Willi Altig , and he ended his cycling career. Today (2013) he works for a purchasing association for bicycle dealers and as a lecturer at the Federal College for Two-Wheel Mechanics in Frankfurt am Main .
