history

Less than a kilometer south of the town center there was a castle stables of an unclear time, which is protected as a ground monument.

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1409 as "Czwalkendorff". The document shows that the large and small tithe belonged to the Langenzenn monastery. In the Salbuch of the Cadolzburg office from 1414 the place was listed as "Zawckendorff". In 1490 the place was called "Zaultendorff", in 1540 finally "Zaudendorff". The defining word of the place name is the Slavic personal name Sulek.

The church of St. Johannes was first mentioned in the church records in 1533 as a branch church of Langenzenn . This stands over a high medieval building and received its choir tower in 1591 . The cemetery wall was built in the late Middle Ages .

At the end of the 18th century there were 13 properties in Zautendorf. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The village and township government had the manor Neudorf held. The landlords were the Neudorf manor (four courtyards, four estates, an inn, two estates, a shepherd's house) and the Katharinenamt of the imperial city of Nuremberg (one courtyard, one estate).

As part of the community edict, Zautendorf was assigned to the Deberndorf tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Deberndorf , which was founded in the same year . The Bavarian original cadastre shows Zautendorf in the 1810s with 16 hearths around the church and its walled church . To the north of the village, the Zautendorfer Bach is dammed into three ponds , each about one hectare in size . Around 1840 there were 13 farms and 25 families with a total of 108 souls in the village. There was a school, a carpenter's shop and a blacksmith.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Zautendorf was incorporated into Cadolzburg on January 1, 1972.
