The Zerzabelshofer Forst is a community-free area in the central Franconian district of Nürnberger Land .

The 6.55 km² large state forest is the part of the Lorenzer Reichswald located south of the Nuremberg districts Mögeldorf and Laufamholz and east of the Nuremberg district Zerzabelshof . The eastern part of the Schmausenbuck lies in the Zerzabelshofer forest . The Nuremberg Zoo is located on the western edge of the city of Nuremberg . The Klingenberg ( 49 ° 27 '2.52 "  N , 11 ° 9' 28.12"  O ) is 379  m above sea level. NN the highest elevation. The area is part of the EU bird sanctuary- Nuremberg Reichswald area .

Waters

In the Zerzabelshofer forest, numerous source brooks of the Hutgraben run, which feed the Valznerweiher and from which the Goldbach flows.

Worth seeing

The forest is criss-crossed by a few cycling and hiking trails. The area is a popular mountain bike area.

There are numerous abandoned quarries on the Schmausenbuck ridge . Castle sandstone was partly mined here until 1994 . This material was used to renovate the Nuremberg Lorenz Church and the city wall.
