Śluza ( German  Schleuse ) is a residential area in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community of Banie Mazurskie (Benkheim) in the powiat Gołdapski ( Goldap district ).

Geographical location

Śluza is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship on the Broszaitschen Canal ( Kanał Brożajcki in Polish ) in the Skallic Forest (Lasy Skaliskie). The former district town of Darkehmen (1938 to 1946 Angerapp, Russian Osjorsk ) is 17 kilometers north on what is now Russian territory, today's district capital Gołdap (Goldap) 22 kilometers northeast.

history

The residential area with the former name Schleuse , also called Neu Schleuse before 1860 , was a forester's house within the Heydtwalde state forest before 1945. It belonged to the forest estate district Skallischen , ( Polish: Skalisze ), part of the Darkehmen district, within the Skallischen district , which - renamed "Altheide District" in 1939 - to the Darkehmen district - between 1939 and 1945 called "Angerapp District" - in the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province East Prussia belonged.

On September 30, 1929, the Skallischen forest estate, part of the Darkehmen district, was incorporated into the Skallischen rural community (1938 to 1945 Altheide).

Since 1945 the small place belonged to Poland as a result of the war and is now called "Śluza". It is now part of the rural community Banie Mazurskie in the powiat Gołdapski , before 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Forsthaus Schleuse belonged to the Protestant church in Benkheim and the Roman Catholic parish in Goldap until 1945 . Today Śluza is part of the newly established Catholic parish in Banie Mazurskie and the Evangelical Church in Gołdap , a branch church of Suwałki .

traffic

In Śluza there is a bridge over the Brożajcki Canal, which connects two forest paths here. The village can be reached via it as well as another from Miczuły (Mitschullen , 1938 to 1945 Rochau) . There is no train connection.
