Maciejowa Wola ( German Matzwolla , 1938 to 1945 Balschdorf ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community of Banie Mazurskie (Benkheim) in the powiat Gołdapski ( Goldap district ).
Geographical location
Maciejowa Wola is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 13 kilometers west of the current district town of Gołdap (Goldap) and 15 kilometers south of the former district capital Darkehmen (1938 to 1946, Angerapp, Russian Osjorsk ), which is now on Russian territory .

On June 3, 1938, Matzwolla was renamed “Balschdorf” for political and ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names.
When the place came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war with southern East Prussia , it received the Polish form of the name "Maciejowa Wola". Today it is part of the rural community Banie Mazurskie in the powiat Gołdapski , before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .
