While his father Andrej played ice hockey there as a striker , son Alexej won the German championship with the inline hockey team in 2000. In 2001 the left-handed shooter played for the first time together with his father in the senior team of the Herner EG in the regional league . In the following season, the attacker scored twelve goals and eleven assists, whereupon he was obliged by the mosquitoes just relegated food from the league . In the 2004/05 season , the mosquitoes rose to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , where Dmitriev scored twelve points. As a result, the DEL Club Iserlohn Roosters became aware of the native Belarusian and signed him together with Michael Wolf for the 2005/06 season .
For the 2007/08 season Dmitriev signed a two-year contract with the Kölner Haien . In June 2009 he was signed by the Dresdner Eislöwen , where he was one of the top performers. He was also on the ice in a game for their cooperation partner Eisbären Berlin in the DEL. He spent the 2010/11 season at Dresden's league rivals Hannover Indians . He then left the team and joined the organization of HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League , for whose cooperation partner HK Homel he played in the Belarusian extra league in the 2011/12 season.
For the 2013/14 season , Dmitriev moved to the DEL2 for the Bietigheim Steelers . With these he was able to move into the play-off final , but the Steelers were defeated by the Fischtown Pinguins in the series with 1: 4. The left shooter left the Steelers at the end of the season in the direction of Dresdner Eislöwen, where he was already on the ice in the 2009/10 season. There Dmitriev signed a one-year contract with an exit clause for the 2014/15 season . This gave him the opportunity to respond positively to a request from a higher-class club at home or abroad. He used this opportunity a few days later when he was signed by the Düsseldorfer EG . On February 10, 2015 it was announced that Dmitriev had extended his contract with DEG by one year. Following the 2017/18 season, Dmitriev moved to the Iserlohn Roosters, with whom he already played in the years 2005-2007.
