Fronfeste (prison)

In 1829 the administration and judiciary were separated in what was then the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen and the previous offices were abolished. So the previous office of Graefenthal was formed with the towns of Graefenthal and Lehesten , the market towns of Probstzella and Reichmannsdorf (with Schlagetal and Sophienthal) and the villages of Brennersgrün , Buchbach , Creunitz (with Arnsbach ), Ernstthal , Gebersdorf , Gösselsdorf , Großgeschwenda , Großneundorf , Hasenthal , Hohenofen (with Friedrichsthal and Vorwerk ), Jehmichen (with the Hühnerschenke), Kleinneundorf , Königsthal (with Pippelsdorf ), Lichtenhain , Lichtentanne , Limbach , Lippelsdorf , Marktgölitz (with God's gift and Obergölitz), Meernach , Oberloquitz , Piesau (with Mittelberg) , Reichenbach , Schaderthal , Schlaga , Schmiedebach (with Ludwigsgrün), Schmiedefeld (with Goldloch), Sommersdorf , Spechtsbrunn (with Christiansgrün), Taubenbach , Wallendorf (with Ascherbach , Lamprecht , Bock and Teich ) and Zopten the district and municipal court of Graefenthal.

On December 1, 1850, this court was transformed into a district court deputation of the Saalfeld district court under the name of the Graefenthal district court.

On October 1, 1879, when the Courts Constitution Act came into force, the district court of Graefenthal took the place of the district court, the district of which was reduced to include the municipalities of Jehmichen (with the chicken tavern) and Schaderthal, which were assigned to the Saalfeld district court . The next higher instance has since been the Rudolstadt Regional Court . On January 1, 1900, the community of Ernstthal had to be handed over to the district court district of Steinach .

The judicial reform that became necessary in the course of the formation of the state of Thuringia led on October 1, 1923, on the one hand, to the transfer of the town of Hohenofen, which was incorporated into Haselbach, to the district court of Steinach and, on the other hand, to the allocation of the towns of Geiersthal and Lichte, which had previously belonged to the district court of Oberweißbach . The court was also now subordinate to the Rudolstadt Regional Court .

On October 1, 1949, the district court of Graefenthal was repealed and from its district the communities Hasenthal and Spechtsbrunn were assigned to the district court of Steinach , while the other towns were assigned to the district court of Saalfeld.
