Another Day in Paradise was written by Phil Collins and Hugh Padgham to raise awareness of the problem of homelessness , especially in the United States . In 2001, the American R&B singer Brandy released a cover version of the song in a duet with her brother Ray J as a single from the European version of her album Full Moon . Brandy also recorded the song for Project Urban Renewal , a tribute album for Collins with covers of his hits by hip-hop and R&B artists. The R&B version was produced by Guy Roche and a dance remix by the Norwegian hit duo Stargate . Brandy's version also achieved top ten placements in various countries. In addition, the cover version received the gold record in Austria, Australia , Germany, France and Switzerland .
