The Wenshan Autonomous District of the Zhuang and Miao ( 文山壯族苗族自治州 / 文山壮族苗族自治州 , Wénshān Zhuàngzú Miáozú Zìzhìzhōu ; Zhuang : Wenx Shangb Langs Hmongb Zif Zhif Zheub ) is located in the southeast of the Chinese province of Yunnan . Its administrative seat is the urban district of Wenshan ( 文山市 ). Wenshan has an area of 32,239 km² and around 3.62 million inhabitants (end of 2016).

Administrative structure

At the county level, Wenshan is made up of a city and seven counties. These are:

City of Wenshan (文山市), 3,064 km², 430,000 inhabitants, seat of the city government: Kaihua Municipality (开化镇);
District Yanshan (砚山县), km² 3888, 440,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Jiangna (江那镇);
Xichou district (西畴县), 1545 km², 250,000 inhabitants, main town: Xisa municipality (西洒镇);
Malipo district (麻栗坡县), 2395 km², 270,000 inhabitants, capital: Mali municipality (麻栗镇);
Maguan district (马关县), 2,755 km², 350,000 inhabitants, capital: Mabai municipality (马白镇);
District Qiubei (丘北县), km² 5150, 450,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Jinping (锦屏镇);
Guangnan County (广南县), 7983 km², 740,000 inhabitants, main town: Liancheng Township (莲城镇);
Funing County (富宁县), 5459 km², 390,000 inhabitants, main town: Xinhua municipality (新华镇).
