Bockum-Hövel was an independent town until the regional reform in 1975, which belonged to the Lüdinghausen district . Now their area belongs to the Westphalian city of Hamm , where it forms the larger part of the city district of the same name .

history
On May 20, 1956, Bockum-Hövel was named a town. This was incorporated on January 1, 1975 together with the city of Heessen and with the communities Pelkum , Rhynern (excluding the Hilbeck district ) and Uentrop in the independent city of Hamm. Until December 31, 1974, Bockum-Hövel belonged to the Lüdinghausen district.

The Hamm-Bockum-Hoevel station is located at the Münster-Hamm railway . Until 1985, passenger trains ran on a small scale on the Werne – Bockum-Höveler Railway .
Transportation
Bockum and Hövel are connected to the Hamm city center by lines 2 (terminus Hövel / Uhlenfeld), 4 (terminus Barsener Strasse) and 9 (terminus Horster Strasse) of Stadtwerke Hamm . The express bus line 10 and the regional line 14 of the Verkehrsgesellschaft Kreis Unna travel from Hamm via Hövel and Bockum on different routes to Werne and Lünen.
Streets
The federal highway 63 connects the east of Bockum-Hövel with Walstedde and Drensteinfurt. The state road 507 leads to Werne and Selm in the west, to Dolberg and Beckum in the east . The state road 518 also leads to Werne. Landesstraße 844 brings the Höveler and Bockumer in a north-westerly direction to Herbern , Ascheberg , Davensberg , Ottmarsbocholt , Senden and Appelhülsen . Then it goes on in the federal highway 525 .
Several district roads lead through Bockum and Hövel .
Attractions
The Evangelical Kreuzkirche from 1912 has been on the list of architectural monuments in the city of Hamm since 1985.
