Candela is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 2732 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Foggia in Apulia . The municipality is located about 40 kilometers south of Foggia and borders directly on the province of Potenza ( Basilicata ).

Possibly it can be deduced from the writings of Hecataeus of Miletus that an ancient city stood here.
