Carlantino is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 916 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Foggia in Apulia . The community is located about 49.5 kilometers west-northwest of Foggia on Lake Occhito and Fortore and borders directly on the province of Campobasso ( Molise ).
history
216 BC A battle between Hannibal and the Romans is said to have taken place in the fields between today's Carlantino and the neighboring municipality of Celenza Valfortore . Today's community was founded in the 16th century.
