Defending champion for men was James Willstrop , for women Nicol David . Willstrop reached the final again, which he lost against Ramy Ashour with 8:11, 11: 3, 7:11 and 6:11. Ashour won the tournament for the second time after 2010. Nicol David was able to successfully defend her title. She defeated Camille Serme in the final with 11: 9, 11: 6, 8:11 and 11: 7. With this final victory David expanded her record to eight titles in a row at this tournament.
The field of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Leo Au in the men's and Liu Tsz-Ling a spot in the main draw in the women each.
At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 150,000 for the men and $ 70,000 for the women.
