The Cathay Pacific Swiss Privilege Hong Kong Squash Open 2006 took place from October 18-22, 2006 in Hong Kong . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2006/07 and was part of the Super Series category . It was endowed with US $ 120,000. The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2006/07 and belonged to the WSA Platinum category . The prize pool was $ 87,500.

Defending champion for the men was Thierry Lincou , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Ramy Ashour . Amr Shabana won the final against Ramy Ashour with 13:11, 3:11, 11: 5 and 13:11. This was his first title at the tournament. In the women’s top seeded Nicol David prevailed, defeating Tania Bailey 9: 1, 10: 8 and 9: 5 in the final.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The best 16 players were each seeded. Per Wildcard received Wong Wai-hang and Christina Mak a starting place in the respective main field.
