Chapelle (Broye) ( Friborg Patois ) is a town and formerly an independent political municipality in the Broye district of the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . Until 1953 the community was officially called Chapelle-près-Surpierre . On January 1, 2005, Chapelle (Broye) was incorporated into Cheiry .
geography
Chapelle (Broye) is 622 m above sea level. M. , 2.5 km north-northeast of Cheiry and 8 km southwest of Payerne (air line) in the Friborg exclave Surpierre . The small farming village extends on the Fin de la Golâ terrace in a panoramic location on the eastern slope of the Bois d'Aclex high above the Lembe valley , in the Molasse hill country of the western Freiburg Central Plateau . The former municipality area was around 2.1 km². The area comprised a section of the Lembetals, reached in the north over the slope of Chapelle to the edge of the forest of the Bois d'Aclex (up to 680 m above sea level ), in the south to the ridge between the valleys of the Lembe and the Broye .
population
With 69 inhabitants (2002), Chapelle (Glâne) was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. In 1831 the community still had 129 inhabitants. Chapelle (Broye) also includes the hamlets Coumin-Dessous ( 520 m above sea level ) on the Lembe and Coumin-Dessus ( 558 m above sea level ) on a terrace on the southern flank of the Lembe, as well as some individual farms.

Chapelle (Broye) still lives by agriculture , particularly from agriculture , the cultivation of tobacco , from the dairy industry and animal husbandry . A gravel pit is being exploited below the village.
traffic
The place is away from the larger thoroughfares. The Postbus course , which runs from Payerne to Combremont-le-Petit , connects Chapelle (Broye) to the public transport network.
history
The first written mention of the place took place in 1363 under the name Cappella . Chapelle (Broye) has been under the rule of Surpierre since the Middle Ages . With this, the village came on February 21, 1536 to Bern and on March 1, 1536 under the rule of Freiburg, where it was assigned to the Bailiwick of Surpierre. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Chapelle (Broye) belonged to the Estavayer district during the Helvetic period until 1803 and then to the Surpierre district before being incorporated into the Broye district in 1848.
As part of the community mergers promoted by the canton of Friborg since 2000, Chapelle (Broye) was incorporated into Cheiry with effect from January 1, 2005.
Attractions
The chapel of Chapelle (Broye) dates from the 17th century. Some characteristic farmhouses from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved in the village.
