Montagny-la-Ville is a village and was a municipality in the district of Broye in the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . On 1 January 2000, the community was with the former municipality of Montagny-les-Monts to the municipality Montagny merged . The place used to be a Catholic boarding school for girls .

geography

The village of Montagny-la-Ville lies at the foot of the Langemalle hill, which rises around 50 m to the north and reaches a height of 611 meters above sea level. The hill and the surrounding area are used intensively for agriculture. To the east are the farms Les Maureys and La Brameire , some of whose fields already belong to the neighboring village of Léchelles . The landscape slopes slightly to the south and south-east and is surrounded by the forest zones En Berley and Bois de la Bandeire . The neighboring villages of Noréaz and Ponthaux are southwest of the forest . The brook Riau des Chaudeires runs between the two forest zones, which joins the Moulin des Arbognes sawmill with the brook L'Arbogne, which separates the village of Montagny-les-Monts near the Les Arbognes group of houses . A little further west, the same stream forms the transition to the village of Cousset, where the railway station of the Freiburg-Payerne line is also located. To the northwest of Montagny-la-Ville, the Ruisseau du Creux brook is the border with the canton of Vaud . The historic town of Payerne and its suburb Corcelles-près-Payerne are further west . The property of the Church of Tours is an exclave of the canton of Friborg in the canton of Vaud, it is on the road from Montagny-la-Ville to Payerne. The exclave includes the church, the former cemetery and another house.
