history
Until the 19th century
The place goes back to a glassworks founded in the Spiegelberg district of Jux in 1700. After economic difficulties and a change of tenants, a grinding mill for mirror production was built in the nearby Lautertal in 1705. This was named Spiegelberg after the product produced. The Spiegelhütte was closed in 1794. In 1795 the Spiegelhütte buildings were sold and a donut factory was founded. Despite the guaranteed monopoly for 10 years within a radius of 7 miles and other benefits, this only existed for a few years. As a result of the founding of the Krappfabrik, a cotton spinning mill, temporarily also a vinegar and beer brewery, as well as a cotton dyeing and bleaching factory were founded.
Up until 1797 a separate staff office could be formed, Spiegelberg belonged to the Oberamt Marbach . In addition to Spiegelberg, Jux and Roßstaig also belonged to the Spiegelberg staff office . The staff office existed until 1807 before it for incorporation into the also in the Kingdom of Württemberg located Oberamt Backnang came.
Incorporations
As early as 1827 Großhöchberg was incorporated into Spiegelberg, which until then had formed an independent municipality.
