The Ultimate Spider-Man (Original title: Ultimate Spider-Man ) is an American animated series , which is loosely based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series of Marvel Comics .
action
Peter Parker, a high school student , is also secretly Spider-Man , revered both as a hero by the general public and, especially by J. Jonah Jameson, viewed as a danger to the public. Since he is still in his infancy with his fighting techniques, SHIELD director Nick Fury drafts him as field leader of a training session for young superheroes.
Spider-Man is initially very uncomfortable working in a team, and at Fury's orders, this team even goes to the same school with him. In addition, there are soon problems with Norman Osborn , father of Peter's best friend Harry, who is secretly planning to genetically replicate Spider-Man and thus breed a marketable army of super soldiers. To this end, he hires a number of super villains who are supposed to capture the wall climber and deliver it to Osborn. Spider-Man's benefit is that SHIELD is providing him with various new super weapons in addition to training and his own team for his superhero career.
Production and publication
The series is produced by Marvel Studios and is the first with Marvel directly involved in the creation. The episodes are written by Paul Dini and comic artist Brian Michael Bendis . Production of the series is directed by the group "Man of Action" (Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey , Joe Kelly , Steven T. Seagle), best known for creating the Ben 10 series. A first trailer in the series premiered during the 2011 San Diego Comic Cons .
Various actors who have worked in the live action films of the Marvel Comics take on the dubbing voices of their respective character roles in this series; so as JK Simmons for J. Jonah Jameson and Clark Gregg for SHIELD -Agent Phil Coulson . Marvel Comics writer and publisher Stan Lee plays the supporting character Stan the Janitor in this series.
characters
All characters appearing in the series have been borrowed from Marvel Comics, both from the Ultimate and Mainstream continuity. The design of the characters is largely based on the Ultimate version, but the characters and the relationships between them do not exactly match. Likewise, other characters from the Marvel universe have guest appearances on the series.
- Peter Parker / Spider-Man
- The show's title character is very careful to keep his superhero identity a secret after the death of his uncle Ben, although things have gotten significantly more difficult now that he is specifically hunted down by Norman Osborn. Although he is very intelligent and has a year of practical experience as a superhero, his youthful arrogance sometimes gets him into great, unwanted trouble.
- Nick Fury
- The head of SHIELD and a super spy who invites Spider-Man to the superhero training program with knowledge of his different identity and thereby develops into a kind of father figure for the young Peter.
- White Tiger / Ava Ayala
- A young Puerto Rican woman who owes her super identity to a mystical amulet, which gives her exceptional athletic ability and skill in the martial arts. With her disciplined manner, she often plays the role of the sub-leader of the training team and often gets into an argument with Spider-Man when the two cannot agree on her tactical approach in emergency situations.
- Iron Fist / Daniel Rand
- A calm and philosophically oriented boy who grew up in the mystical city of K'un-L'un and was trained in the martial arts there. He has the ability to manifest his chi in concentrated power.
- Power Man / Luke Cage
- An African American who has super strength and invulnerability. He was actually an ordinary boy until he was ambushed by Scorpion along with his parents, who were SHIELD agents. His mother then gave him an experimental liquid to drink to protect him, which gave him his abilities. His character is a nice, inconspicuous guy who still stands out due to his size and strength.
- Nova / Sam Alexander
- A teenager with a supersonic ability to fly and the ability to generate rays of energy. As the youngest member of the team, he's also the biggest kid and has regular bickering with Spider-Man.
- Squirrel Girl / Doreen Green
- A happy, acrobatic teenager with a bushy tail. She can talk to squirrels and is very fond of animals.
- Mary Jane Watson
- Peter's childhood friend, who, unlike her other versions, doesn't know about Peter's secret identity. Her dream is to become a reporter, interview Spider-Man and rehabilitate him through Daily Bugle Communications , owned by Spider-Man's most staunch critic, J. Jonah Jameson.
- Harry Osborn
- He is Peter's best friend and schoolmate who constantly struggles for the attention of his neglecting father. He adores Spider-Man and would also like to become a superhero, but always puts himself in great danger. His frustration with his father makes him a prime host for the parasitic symbiote Venom.
- Norman Osborn
- Harry's father and the chairman of Oscorp, who hopes for the business of a lifetime with the genetic replication of Spider-Man. At the end of the first season, however, in revenge, Doctor Octopus transforms him into the monstrous green goblin through a mutagen obtained from Spider-Man's DNA . In the second season he kidnaps Spider-Man and injects him with a self-made symbiote, making Peter the bloodthirsty Carnage .
- Eugene "Flash" Thompson
- The top athlete from Peter's school and as a school thug and muscleman at the same time Peter's worst enemy and Spider-Man's most ardent admirer. In the third season, a Venom symbiote connects with him, fulfilling his dream of becoming a superhero as Agent Venom .
- Agent Phil Coulson
- A SHIELD agent and aide to Nick Fury, appointed as the principal of Peter's school to better oversee Spider-Man. Throughout the story, he and May Parker develop a relationship.
- Dr. Kurt Connors / Lizard
- A SHIELD scientist primarily responsible for developing Spider-Man's specialty weapons. When the Green Goblin attacked the SHIELD Helicarrier at the end of Season 1, he lost his right arm. When he tries to use a mutagen developed by Doctor Octopus to regenerate his arm, he transforms into a humanoid, irrational lizard monster and thus becomes the unwilling enemy of Spider-Man.
- J. Jonah Jameson
- The owner of the media company Daily Bugle Communications and a sharp critic of Spider-Man. He announces his opinion every day on the large advertising screens all over the city, which are often damaged in the battles that Spider-Man has to fight.
- Doctor Octopus / Otto Octavius
- A formerly recognized scientist with four cybernetic tentacle arms made by Norman Osborn who coordinates the hunt for Spider-Man from underground as Osborn's middleman. After he fails, Octavius goes underground and tries to get revenge on Spider-Man and Osborn from there. He later founds the super villain team "The Sinistren Six".
- Venom
- In this series, Venom is a first cloning experiment by Norman Osborn and Doctor Octopus, whose basic material was obtained from a sample of Spider-Man's blood; in this state, however, Venom is completely uncontrollable. Part of him eventually connects with Flash Thompson as the perfect host , making him superhero Agent Venom .
- Task master
- A criminal mercenary (and in this series a former SHIELD agent) who has photographic reflexes that allow him to perfectly imitate the physical abilities of his opponents. His goal is to recruit young people with superpowers as his henchmen.
- May Parker
- Peter's young at heart and very energetic aunt, with whom he has lived since the death of his parents. Over the course of the series, she enters into a relationship with Phil Coulson.
- Stan the Janitor
- The caretaker of Peter's school and comic relief character of the series, who is constantly trying to teach Spider-Man and his friends his wisdom. During the course of the second season, he turns out to be a SHIELD veteran. In addition, he is a clear cameo version of Stan Lee, who also lends the character his voice.
synchronization
The German synchronization occurs under the dialogue director of Kim Hasper by the synchronous company SDI Media in Berlin . It should be noted that both Nico Sablik and Engelbert von Nordhausen synchronize the same roles in the series as in the film adaptations.
Episode list
criticism
Public criticism of the series is divided. While above all the humor is praised, many critics are disappointed by the lack of drama of the topic "responsibility", which is an essential characteristic of Spider-Man.
