The French director Patrice Chéreau was the jury president this year. He presided over a jury with the following members: Aishwarya Rai , Meg Ryan , Karin Viard , Erri Di Luca , Jean Rochefort , Steven Soderbergh , Danis Tanović and Wen Jiang .

- Golden Palm : Elephant by Gus Van Sant
- Grand Jury Prize : Uzak - Weit
- Jury Prize: Five in the afternoon
- Best Actor: Muzaffer Özdemir and Mehmet Emin Toprak in Uzak - Weit (Mehmet Emin Toprak received the award posthumously . He died in a car accident shortly before the festival. The award was the first performance award for Turkish actors in the history of the Festivals.)
- Best Actress: Marie-Josée Croze in The Barbarian Invasion
- Best director: Gus Van Sant for Elephant
- Best script: Denys Arcand for The Barbarian Invasion
