European Football Championship 2012 / France
This article covers the French national team at the 2012 European Football Championship .
qualification
France played in the qualifying group D . This was difficult for the Bleus at the beginning and happy in the end , especially because of the (also personal) after-effects of the “negative appearance” at the World Cup in South Africa . The eleven, coached by the new national coach Laurent Blanc , started with a home defeat against Belarus , but won their next four encounters - including the one with their ultimate main rival, Bosnia-Herzegovina - before they did not get beyond a draw in the second leg against the Belarusians as little as briefly then in Romania . In the last game, the French only needed one point at the Stade de France against Bosnia-Herzegovina and finally won it against the guest, who was overwhelmingly superior in the opinion of the local media: Only a penalty converted by Samir Nasri in the 78th minute was made the 1: 1 final score.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was the only player to appear in all ten games. The 15 goals scored for France: Karim Benzema, Yoann Gourcuff, Florent Malouda (3 each), Loïc Rémy (2), Philippe Mexès, Yann M'Vila, Samir Nasri, Anthony Réveillère (1 each).

Contingent
Coach Blanc announced his first pre-selection of 26 players for preparation on May 9th and 15th. On May 29, he reported the final 23-man squad to UEFA , for which he did without Loïc Rémy (injured), Yoann Gourcuff and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa . The biggest problem is in the defensive area, because with Éric Abidal and Bacary Sagna, two experienced regular players had to cancel due to injury and Mexès was only able to play a few matches with his club team after a long break. 11 out of 23 players were under contract abroad. The majority played in the Premier League . Two more played in the Primera División , while the Bundesliga and Serie A each provided one player.
