preparation

In preparation for the European Championship, Poland has played 21 test matches since August 2010, eight of which were won, eight ended in a draw and five were lost. Victories can only be achieved against teams that did not take part in the European Championship. There were three test matches immediately before the European Championship: on May 22nd and 26th in Klagenfurt against Latvia (1-0) and Slovakia (1-0) and on June 2nd in Warsaw against Andorra (4-0).

Games of Poland

As one of the hosts, Poland was selected as the group head of Group A at the draw. In the FIFA world rankings (as of May 6, 2012), however, the group opponents occupied significantly better places than Poland: Russia 11th, Greece 14th, Czech Republic 26th. Poland was 65th (worst ranking of all European Championship participants), taking into account it must be that the qualification games of the group opponents have a higher value than the friendlies of the Poles.

Poland last played against Russia on August 22, 2007. In Moscow they drew 2-2. The overall balance against Russia was even with one win, one draw and one defeat before the European Championship. The last game against Greece on March 29, 2011 also ended in a draw. In Larisa , both parted goalless. The overall balance against Greece (9 wins, 2 draws, 3 defeats before the EM) is positive. There was a 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic in their last game on October 10, 2009 as part of the qualification for the 2010 World Cup in Prague . The overall balance against the Czech Republic (3 wins, 2 defeats before the European Championship) was also positive.
