Games of Russia

EM preliminary round

At the draw, the Russians, Greece and the Czech Republic were drawn to the host Poland, who was the head of group A. There has only been one game against the Czech Republic so far: in the European Championship preliminary round in 1996 , the two separated 3: 3, with the Czechs reaching the quarter-finals by 3: 3 in the 90th minute. Russia last played against Poland on August 22, 2007. In Moscow they drew 2-2. The overall balance against Poland was even with one win, one draw and one defeat before the European Championship. Against Greece the record is positive with 3 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat before the EM. The two last met before the European Championship on November 11th, 2011 in Piraeus and separated 1: 1. At the last European Championship, Russia won 1-0 against Greece in the preliminary round and four years earlier Russia was the only team that could win against the eventual European champions, but the 2-1 was no longer important for reaching the quarter-finals. The Russians had already retired by then.
