Gianicolense (Suburbio)
Coordinates: 41 ° 52 ' N , 12 ° 25' O Gianicolense is a Suburbio (suburb) of the Italian capital Rome . In the administration it isabbreviatedas S. VIII and belongs to Municipio XI and XII . The name is derived from the Gianicolo hill. It is located in the west of the city of Rome, had a population of 51,339 in 2016 and an area of 17.4654 km².
In the north it borders on the suburbio S. IX Aurelio and the quarters Q. XIII Aurelio , in the east on the quarters Q. XII Gianicolense , in the south on the suburbio S. VII Portuense and in the west on the zone Z. XLIV La Pisana and to zone Z. XLV Castel di Guido .
The Suburbio was officially founded on August 20, 1921 with the name S.IX and took over the number S.VII on March 1, 1954, as the Suburbia Ostiense became a quarter.
