Holenacker (also: Holenacher ) is a common quarter in the VI Bümpliz-Oberbottigen district and the statistical district 32 Bethlehem in the city of Bern . It borders on the common Bethlehem quarters of Brünnen , Gäbelbach , Eichholz , Ackerli and Tscharnergut .

In 2019, the resident population was 1,338, of which 907 are Swiss and 431 foreigners.

Holenacker is primarily a high-rise estate and was the last to be built in the west of Bern for a long time.

history

The Holenacker development was intended to mark the beginning of a new Bern-Brünnen district , in which living space was planned for over 20,000 residents. She continued the high-rise construction of Bern-Gäbelbach . The 1973 oil crisis led to a redimensioning in the planning phase. Construction began in 1979, the architects were Hans and Gret Reinhard , Ehrenberg-Kernen-Schwab, Helfer Architekten AG, Lutstorf & Hans. The owner was the family building cooperative, the pension funds of Hasler AG and Marti AG as well as Promet AG.

The high-rise buildings were completed in 1986 and were the last new buildings of this type in Bern for a long time. The reason for this was that from the 1970s the residential high-rise was increasingly considered inhumane - although a varied and pleasing design of the houses and the garden environment countered the accusation of monotony. The quarter has now become a kind of open-air architecture museum on the settlement history of the post-war period and the economic and social change as well as various architectural trends , according to a 2018 Baublatt article .

culture and education

The Holenacker sports field consists of two natural grass fields and a sand court. In the leisure center, rooms can be rented for various events.

Schools are located in Brünnen and Gäbelbach, Holenacker has a day-care center (30 places, up to 6 years of age) and a "Tagi" to look after 19 school children with a focus on social integration and language support.

The band cooperative with one of three locations in Bern in Holenacker offers sheltered jobs for the integration of people who are looking for reorientation or support in returning to work due to illness, accident or unemployment.

The Pfimi Bern, a free church of the Swiss Pentecostal Mission , has its community center in Holenacker.
