Police chief Horst Krause is a fictional person from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 , which was played by Horst Krause from 1998 to 2015 . He has been part of the permanent team of investigators since 1999. Since 2007, 90-minute television films have been made about the Brandenburg (ex-) village policeman, Krause , separately from the police call .

Police chief Horst Krause appears for the first time in Das Wunder von Wustermark (1998), the second part of the Wustermark trilogy with Lansky and Dettmann, which also includes the films Totes Gleis (1994) and Dettmanns wide world (2005).

From 1999 to 2002 he investigated four times at the side of Chief Detective Wanda Rosenbaum ( Jutta Hoffmann ). Between 2002 and 2010 he clarified a total of twelve cases with Chief Detective Johanna Herz ( Imogen Kogge ). From 2011 to Krause's retirement in 2015, following Icarus , he accompanied the investigations of Chief Detective Olga Lenski ( Maria Simon ). When Lenski becomes pregnant, he supports Detective Chief Inspector Tamara Rusch ( Sophie Rois ) in his 19th case , whom Lenski represents during her maternity leave. His calling is his calling; he determines with all his dedication and a lot of personal commitment. He always drives to locations on his motorcycle, an original Dnepr K750 Molotov military motorcycle, with his loyal dog "Vera" (from 2010 "Haduk" and previously until 2002 "Mücke") accompanying him in the sidecar.

That the village policeman Horst Krause has the same name as his actor is a novelty . The idea goes back to Bernd Böhlich , who answered Krause to a corresponding question: “Why should the village policeman be called 'Schulz' when he looks like 'Krause'? My name is Krause. ”When Horst Krause asked him for his first name, Böhlich said:“ Horst ”. It stayed that way.

The role of Horst Krause was not the actor's first investigative role in a police call: As Rolf Schön with the rank of lieutenant, he was seen for the first time in the episode Jealousy in August 1988 , where he and his colleague Lutz Zimmermann ( Lutz Riemann ) and Peter Fuchs ( Peter Borgelt ) solves a murder case.
