Jackson County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States . 181,269 people live here. The county seat is Medford . It was named after President Andrew Jackson .

The county was formed on January 12, 1852 and named after the American President Andrew Jackson .
The county has a National Historic Landmark , the Jacksonville Historic District . 150 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 12, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , the county had a population of 181,269 people. There were 71,532 households and 48,427 families. The population density was 25 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.65% white, 0.40% African American, 1.09% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 0.18% residents from the Pacific island area and 2.88% from others ethnic groups; 2.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 6.69% of the population.
Of the 71,532 households, 30.30% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 53.20% were married couples living together, 10.50% were single mothers. 32.30% were not families. 25.10% were single households and 11.00% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.95.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.40% of residents under 18 years of age, 8.70% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.50% between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.40% between 45 and 64 years of age 16.00% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 94.60 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 91.70 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 36,461 , and the median income for a family is $ 43,675. Males had a median income of $ 32,720 versus $ 23,690 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,498. 12.50% of the population and 8.90% of families are below the poverty line. 16.30% of them were under 18 years of age and 6.90% were 65 years of age or older.
