Career
Jordie Benn began his career as an ice hockey player on the Peninsula Panthers youth team. From there he moved to the traditional junior league British Columbia Hockey League , in which he was active from 2005 to 2008 for the Victoria Salsa and Victoria Grizzlies. Also in his hometown, the defender completed his first position in professional ice hockey when he played for the Victoria Salmon Kings in the ECHL in the 2008/09 season. In the following season he reached the playoff final for the Miron Cup with the Allen Americans from the Central Hockey League , but was defeated in this with the Americans in the Rapid City Rush with 2: 4 wins.
For the 2010/11 season Benn was committed by the Texas Stars from the American Hockey League . There he was able to convince straight away as a regular player, whereupon he received a contract as a free agent with their cooperation partner Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League on July 1, 2011 . For this he was on the ice in a total of three NHL games during the 2011/12 season , in which he prepared two goals. However, he spent most of the season again with the Texas Stars in the AHL. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , which was shortened due to a lockout , he first played for the Texas Stars in the AHL, before he was appointed to the NHL squad for the Dallas Stars after the start of the NHL season.
After more than six years in the Dallas Stars organization, Benn was handed over to the Canadiens de Montréal in February 2017 , who in return sent Greg Pateryn and a four-round vote for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft to Dallas. He worked in the French-Canadian metropolis until the end of the 2018/19 season, when he joined the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent in July 2019 and signed a two-year contract there.
