Tyler Motte (* 10. March 1995 in Port Huron , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who since February 2018 when the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Utica Comets , on the position of the center plays.
Career
Motte spent his junior years in the United States Hockey League , where he was active from 2011 to 2013 for the US National Team Development Program of the US ice hockey association USA Hockey . In 64 games he collected 47 points. After age as of the end of the 2012/13 season from the support program of the association was eliminated, he decided his career at an American College continue and thus against the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League , which it in the OHL Priority Selection selected had. He was also drawn in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in 121st place by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League .
For the 2013/14 season, the striker moved to the University of Michigan , for whose ice hockey team he played alongside his studies in the Big Ten Conference , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the following three seasons up to spring 2016 Motte completed a total of 107 games for the university and collected 105 points. The attacker scored 56 points in his senior year alone, when he led the team with Kyle Connor , JT Compher and Zach Werenski to win the Big Ten championship and was appointed to the First All-Star Team. Furthermore, he was one of the ten nominated finalists who were in the final selection for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award .
After the college season, Motte was finally signed by the Chicago Blackhawks in mid-April and used for the rest of the 2015/16 season with the Rockford IceHogs , Chicago's farm team in the American Hockey League . He completed eight games and collected seven scorer points. In preparation for the 2016/17 season , the versatile striker earned a place in the Chicago Blackhawks' NHL squad and made his debut at the start of the season.
In June 2017, Motte and Artemi Panarin as well as a six- round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2017 were given to the Columbus Blue Jackets , who in return sent Brandon Saad , Anton Forsberg and a five-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2018 to Chicago. After a little more than six months, he and Jussi Jokinen were transferred to the Vancouver Canucks for the trade deadline in February 2018 , who sent Thomas Vanek to Columbus for this purpose .
International
At the international level represented Motte his country at junior level at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2012 , the Under-18 World Youth Championship in 2013 in Russia's Sochi and the U-20 World Youth Championship in 2015 in Canada . He won the silver medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge and the U18 Junior World Championship. He finished the U20 Junior World Championship with the Americans in fifth place.
For the men's team he was nominated for the first time for the 2016 World Cup in Russia. The striker was used in all ten tournament games of the US boys and contributed three scorer points to reaching fourth place.
