The District of La Couronne is a French constituency in Charente and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It comprises four municipalities in the Angoulême arrondissement and has its bureau centralisateur in La Couronne . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was reduced in size in spring 2015.

history
The canton of La Couronne was created on July 13, 1973 by splitting up what was then the canton of Angoulême-1 . Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of La Couronne included the seven municipalities of Fléac , La Couronne , Nersac , Puymoyen , Roullet-Saint-Estèphe , Saint-Michel and Vœuil-et-Giget . Its layout corresponded to an area of 110.36 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1630.
